Guaranteed Ride Home

What is VOTRAN's Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH)?

This program provides you with a ride home from your workplace in an emergency situation. You must be registered with VOTRAN's Commuter Assistance Program to participate.

Registration criteria

  • Participants must be registered with Votran's Commuter Assistance Program.
  • Participants must use a recognized commute alternative to get to and from work. The rider may use the I-4 Express Bus, or be a member of a Votran vanpool riding at least four days a week.
  • You must be a Volusia County resident.

What constitutes an emergency situation?

A participant may use the GRH program under the following circumstances only:

  • The situation or event must not have been anticipated when the participant left for work.
  • The supervisor requires the participant to work after normal working hours. The participant learns about the work during the day it must be undertaken.
  • The participant becomes ill at work. This cannot cannot be used for pre-scheduled medical appointments.
  • The participant has a family emergency, such as a sick child or a personal crisis.

How can I enroll?

  • Complete and return a Votran Commuter Assistance Application.
  • Applications may be acquired by calling Votran or by printing out the Commuter Assistance form
  • Once you have registered, Commuter Assistance will mail four GRH vouchers to you. Each will have your name and the GRH expiration date printed on each.

GRH program particulars

  • GRH may be used up to four times in one year.
  • GRH rides must be from your workplace only.
  • Commuter Assistance will verify all trip vouchers, confirming that the participant is current and eligible, the fare is correct, the reason for the trip is appropriate and track usage.
  • Reimbursement is limited $40 per ride home. No gratuity will be reimbursed.
